Why We Exist

Search should help people find answers — not help the highest bidder buy attention.

FuuckGoogle exists because search has drifted away from the people using it. Too much of the modern search experience is built around advertising, tracking, corporate influence, and keeping users inside ecosystems controlled by a handful of powerful companies.

The first screen should contain the most useful answers. It should not be an expensive piece of digital real estate auctioned to whoever has the largest marketing budget.

Search should serve the person asking the question — not advertisers, shareholders, data brokers, or corporate gatekeepers.

The results are not for sale

FuuckGoogle does not sell search positions. Payment cannot buy inclusion, better visibility, special treatment, or protection from being outranked by a more relevant source.

There are no sponsored results disguised as useful answers. There are no paid listings pushed above organic results. There are no commercial deals quietly deciding what users see first.

No ads. No paid rankings. No corporate manipulation.

Relevance before revenue

Our purpose is not to overwhelm users with the largest possible pile of links. It is to surface useful, relevant, trustworthy, and genuinely different sources.

Results may be evaluated using signals such as:

  • How closely the page matches the actual search intent
  • Language and regional relevance
  • Originality and independent information value
  • Source quality, accountability, and transparency
  • Freshness when current information matters
  • Protection against spam, duplication, manipulation, and low-value copies

Commercial relationships, donations, sponsorships, or private agreements must never decide which result ranks first.

Ten results should mean ten sources

A result page should not be dominated by one corporation, one publishing network, or ten slightly rewritten versions of the same article.

FuuckGoogle aims to provide real source diversity. Repeated domains may be limited, substantially similar pages may be grouped, and original sources should be preferred over copies, aggregators, and mass-produced rewrites.

The obvious exception is when someone is specifically searching for a particular website, company, or domain. In that case, showing several relevant pages from the requested source makes sense.

Context without surveillance

A search engine can understand the language and context of a query without constructing a permanent commercial profile of the person behind it.

FuuckGoogle may use the current query, selected language, and relevant regional context to improve the results. A search can prioritise useful sources in the user’s preferred language while still surfacing authoritative international sources when they provide the stronger answer.

That is contextual relevance — not behavioural surveillance.

Open code. Open principles.

FuuckGoogle is being built in the open. Its code, ranking principles, development decisions, and significant changes should be available for public inspection.

Developers, researchers, designers, privacy specialists, language experts, search professionals, and ordinary users should all be able to test the system, challenge weak decisions, and propose improvements.

Open source does not mean that anyone can secretly alter the official results. Changes must be reviewed, tested, documented, and accepted through an accountable process.

Everyone can contribute. Nobody can purchase control.

Privacy is not a premium feature

A search engine does not need to follow people around the internet to answer a question.

FuuckGoogle is designed to minimize unnecessary data collection. Searches should not be turned into advertising profiles, sold as behavioural intelligence, or used to decide which companies are allowed to target a user.

Where external search indexes or infrastructure providers are used, that dependence should be explained honestly. Privacy promises must be understandable, specific, and open to verification — not buried inside pages of legal language.

An alternative to corporate search

FuuckGoogle is not being built to become another closed platform controlled by advertisers, investors, or one untouchable corporation.

The long-term goal is an independent, community-powered search engine with transparent ranking principles, open governance, and a permanent wall between project funding and search visibility.

The project may be supported through donations, memberships, grants, infrastructure partnerships, or paid technical services. None of these should ever buy influence over individual search results.

Born from frustration. Built for action.

FuuckGoogle began with a familiar frustration: search was becoming less about finding the best answer and more about monetising the first screen, collecting data, and protecting corporate power.

That frustration became a movement. But anger alone does not build an alternative.

FuuckGoogle exists to turn that frustration into something useful: a real, open, people-first search engine that can be tested, improved, challenged, and shared.

Your search. Your privacy. Your web.
